FINAL

Before this semester it was natural to look at social media as a daunting thing to understand how to do well; however, a few of the assignments this semester taught me to slow down and look deeper than surface level to see what makes a good business social media account. I longer feel overwhelmed by the thought of having to run a social media account and I don’t fear that it will fail.
For me it is easy to identify when a social media account is successful and when it is failing. It wasn’t necessarily easy to identify why that was beyond visual appearance. While I believe a visually appealing feed is crucial for the success of an account, there is so much more in play to set up a business account for success. I have been able to shift my focus when looking at my own instagram feed. Specifically, I can identify when a business is promoting a product, an experience, a feeling, and when I can see which of their posts resonate most with their audience based off of engagement.
If I were to take over or create a business’s social media I feel prepared for it. I believe I have a good insight for what to look for and what to plan for. Planning ahead in posts and scheduling out posts a week or more in advance is a really good way to stay on top of social media and allows for consistency in a business. I think there is a learning curve that can’t be taught in this class, or in any class. I believe I am as prepared as I can be, and the next step would be to get actual hands on experience with a business.
Throughout this semester I primarily analyzed social media of businesses who I knew or had visited, this was intentional because I could see how their store aligned with their social media and how integrated it all was. I don’t believe I found any new services or products I want to use for myself; however, I did find which business I have Before this semester it was natural to look at social media as a daunting thing to understand how to do well; however, a few of the assignments this semester taught me to slow down and look deeper than surface level to see what makes a good business social media account. I don’t believe I found any new services or products I want to use for myself; however, I did find which business I have a higher connection with based on that integration. I also have begun drafting a proposal to work with one business that I believe does a great job in the shop, and needs help translating that to their media.
I think this semester brought some things to my attention that I hadn’t considered. I also learned how to look deeper into what is working well or what isn’t for businesses. I look forward to when this class gets some practical use in the real world.
